Luckily, there are a handful of different steps you can take to make sure that it runs as greatly as possible for as long as possible. Avoid Opening and Closing the Freezer Door Too Often
This is an easy tip that a lot of people forget about. Each time you open or close your door, you are letting in warm air and humidity while also increasing the heat load on your compressor. Also, keeping the door open for longer than it has to be will increase the load.
Maintain an Environment That is Cool and Not Humid
A warm environment again has the effect of increasing the overall heat load on the compressor. What’s more, higher humidity can negatively impact the overall performance of the fridge or freezer. When the doors are opened, humidity in the air will enter and form condensation. This has to be removed, resulting in a lot more work for the machine. In laboratory freezers, it may mean the defrost cycle must be run more regularly.
Keep Your Machine and Surrounding Space Clean
It is much easier for dirt and dust to build upon your condenser coils. This insulates the coils, which makes heat removal a lot less effective and makes the compressor work harder to maintain the overall temperature. All the extra work will reduce its lifespan. It is recommended that cleaning the areas around your condenser coils and compressor is carried out twice annually or more often for any dust-prone environments. Make sure your laboratory is clean, too, in order to prevent the buildup of dust in the first place. Also, keep the area around the appliance as clear as possible will ensure air can circulate the right way.
